Roof insulation
Insulate your flat and pitched roofs for more comfort and less heat loss.
Roof insulation: our expertise
The roof is one of the places where a house loses the most heat. Insulating it well improves comfort in winter and summer and often makes it possible to convert the attic.
Depending on your roof, there are several solutions: insulation between and under the rafters from inside, external insulation (sarking) when the roof covering is renewed, or insulation under new waterproofing on a flat roof.
Effective insulation depends as much on the material as on the details: continuity, vapour barrier, junctions with walls and roof windows. If you are considering a regional grant, check the current conditions beforehand.
What we do
Pitched roof from inside
Insulation between and under the rafters, vapour barrier and finish.
Sarking
Insulation boards laid over the rafters when the roof covering is renewed.
Flat roof
Insulation boards under a new membrane.
Attic floor
Insulating the floor of unconverted attics.
Airtightness
Vapour barrier and careful junctions.
Finish
Plasterboard, joints and a finish ready to paint.

Materials and techniques
- Mineral wool: Glass wool or stone wool, in rolls or boards.
- Wood fibre: Performs well in summer thanks to its mass.
- PIR boards: Very high performance for a small thickness.
- Vapour barrier: Membranes and adhesive tapes for the junctions.
Materials are chosen case by case, after the visit, depending on the surface and your project.

Under-roof conversion
A converted, finished space under the roof.

Why it matters
Energy
An insulated roof clearly reduces heat loss and improves comfort in the rooms under the roof.
Weatherproofing
A properly fitted vapour barrier prevents condensation in the insulation and protects the roof structure.
Appearance
A finished, bright attic becomes a real living space.
Frequently asked questions
Insulate from inside or outside?
From outside when the roof covering is being redone; from inside if the covering is in good condition. We advise you based on your situation.
Which insulation material should be used?
Mineral wool, wood fibre, PIR boards… The choice depends on the roof, the space available and your priorities.
What is the vapour barrier for?
It stops indoor moisture from getting into the insulation, where it could condense.
Can the attic be converted afterwards?
Yes, an insulated roof finished with plasterboard is a good basis for converting the attic.
Do you also insulate flat roofs?
Yes, generally from above, under a new waterproofing layer. See also our Flat roofs page.
