External wall insulation
Improve the comfort of your home and reduce heat loss, without losing living space.
External wall insulation: our expertise
External wall insulation wraps the building's walls in a layer of insulation boards, then covered with reinforced render and a decorative finish. The wall stays on the warm side of the insulation, improving comfort and limiting thermal bridges at floors and internal walls.
It is a particularly worthwhile solution during a façade renovation: the scaffolding is used to insulate and renew the exterior look in a single operation. The work takes place outside, so you can usually go on living in the home as normal.
We choose the insulation and its thickness according to your project, the surface and the constraints of the building (roof overhangs, sills, window frames, party walls). Junction details around openings, at the base of the façade and at the top of the wall are essential for a lasting result. If you want to apply for a regional grant, check the current conditions in your region beforehand.
What we do
Detail survey
Surveying roof overhangs, sills, window ledges, downpipes and party walls.
Starter profile
Fitting the profile that supports the first row of boards above the ground.
Fitting the boards
Bonding and, if needed, mechanically fixing the insulation boards.
Corners and openings
Corner reinforcements and careful treatment around window frames.
Reinforced base coat
Base layer with reinforcing mesh over the entire surface.
Finishing render
Decorative finish in the chosen texture and colour.

Materials and techniques
- Expanded polystyrene (EPS): Lightweight and common for façade insulation under render.
- Stone wool: Non-combustible, often used where fire safety requires it.
- Wood fibre: Natural insulation, valued for summer comfort.
- Complete render system: Adhesive, anchors, mesh, base coat and finish that are compatible with each other.
Materials are chosen case by case, after the visit, depending on the surface and your project.

Why it matters
Energy
Walls are a major source of heat loss; insulating them improves comfort and reduces heating consumption.
Weatherproofing
The render system protects the insulation and the wall from rain, provided the junctions are done properly.
Appearance
The insulation is finished with a new façade: a chance to completely change the look of the house.
Frequently asked questions
Which insulation material should be used?
The most common are expanded polystyrene (EPS), stone wool and wood fibre. The choice depends on the surface, fire-safety requirements and your priorities; we advise you during the visit.
Is external insulation possible on a terraced house?
Yes, on the front and rear façades. However, the junctions with neighbouring façades need care, and local planning rules must be checked.
Is a permit required?
Insulation changes the thickness and often the appearance of the façade. Depending on the municipality, approval may be required: check with the planning department.
Are there grants?
Regional grants for wall insulation exist or have existed. Conditions change regularly: check your region's official websites before signing.
Can I live in the house during the work?
Yes, generally. The work is done outside; we protect the window frames and organise the site to limit disruption.
